It is unfortunate that some people can't handle being put into a position of leadership. It goes to their heads.
Dawkins certainly issued a much- needed challenge to religious ideas. He is one of a handful of people whose work has put atheists, secularists and humanists in a position to meaningfully challenge the inimical influence of religion od society and government.
However, he has since allowed himself to be swayed by the adulation of those around him. The result is that instead of constructing arguments and citing valid theories and evidence to support them, he hadsdeveloped the habit of speaking 'ex cathedra', in the manner of the religious leaders he affects to oppose.
As Nietzsche warned: “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.”
