It always tickles me to see the BBC getting hammered by both right and left. It means they must be doing things right!
Just to be clear, my daily perusals of the BBC website yield several mentions of 'far right' and 'extremist' groups as being responsible for the violence of recent days, including an explanation of how social media has been spreading disinformation - it's being done by individual influencers rather than specifc groups. Farage was mentioned as spreading false and provocative information, as well as Mr Yaxley-Lennon.
People turn up to events billed as 'protests'. Many of them are ordinary folk worried about illegal immigration as well as the level of legitimate immigration. Given we are a small island with a cash-strapped government and local authorities on the verge of bankruptcy, this is a understandable worry. A counter-protest is arranged - again mostly ordianry people with differing views.
Both groups are inflitrated by a mix of political extremists, anti-police elements, yobboes looking for trouble and professional criminals. They provoke the trouble. It's exactly the sort of thing that happened on picket lines in industrial disputes in the 1970s.
Historically, the Tories and their far-right stooges have always done this to try to undermine Labour governments.
