It all depends on where any revolution comes from. A middle-class coup would see us back in the EU, a lot of social changes around minorities, some cosmetic changes in the economy which would do nothing to address the real inequalities and some high-profile green policies.
A grassroots up, working class revolution would almost certainly lead to some kind of Socialism, but would preclude re-entering the EU.
What people (commentators at least) fail to understand is that the EU referendum turned out the way it did because the working classes - who generally don't vote - turned out in their thousands to vote Leave. NOT because of the immigrants, but because their grandparents were bombed out in the Blitz. Because great-grandad came back with only one leg. Because great-auntie Sophie died a spinster after her young man was killed. Because of all those black and white photos of smiling young men in uniform who are now lying under white crosses in France. Because the Irish Republic is part of the EU and they lost a friend or relative in an IRA bombing. Because the French sold Exocet missiles to the Argentinians.
The working classes don't give a fuck about complex economic issues. They want nationalised utilities and public transport. They want Council housing. They want strong Trade Unions to keep the bosses in line. They want well-paid jobs for life in manufacturing - making things they can afford to buy. They don't trust the Frogs, the Jerries or the Yanks, and want nothing to do with any of them. They want to trade with the Commonwealth and stay out of other folks' wars. They want the statues of Thatcher and Churchill taken down and smashed.
I worked for five years at the DWP and another five in FE. I know these people, all colours, shapes and sizes. They are simple folk with long memories and very clear ideas of the way things should be. Johnson, Starmer and Farage are all upper-class twits who need shooting and Jeremy Corbyn was their last hope.
If they reach tipping point, the outcome will not be what anyone expects.
