Interesting, given that our British calendar is more business-oriented.

The pivot is, of course, the Quarter Days, the days on which, traditionally, rents are due, property must be entered upon or quitted, and contracts begun, renewed or completed. In financial matters, they are still important -audits are held, reports due and accounts presented quarterly in msny companies and Governemt departments to this day.

Despite any Christian overlay, they are still pagan in origin!

Thus Lady Day - March 25th is close to the Spring Equinox, the pagan Ostara falls between March 19th and 24th, while the Paschal Full Moon (used to calculate Easter) falls between 22nd March and 14th April. But bear in mind that Easter technically begins on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent and exactly 46 days before Easter Sunday.

Midsummer Day, 24th June, is the Summer Solstice and pagans celebrate Litha between 19th and 23rde of that month.

Michealmas Day, 29th September, matches the Autumn Equinox and is close to the pagan Mabon.

Christmas Day is close to the Winter Solstice and falls a few days after Yule.

Exact matching of dates is never quite possible because of discrepancies between the secular solar calendar, the pagan lunar calendar and the ecclesiastical lunisolar hybrid calendar. Additional confusion being caused by shifts between the Julian and Gregorian Calendars and variations in the Earths' orbit.
