Interesting choices, with sound reasoning. On the whole, I'm not a fan of sequels, unless they're planned. If you did it right the first time and came to a satisfactory conclusion, then leave it there!

Too many films these days are made with an eye to sequels and franchising, so that at least one, if not the main, plot arc is left unresolved at the end. That makes the film unsatisfying to watch, because you get the 'Here we go again!' factor. Not to mention the fact that the inevitable personnel changes can in turn lead to jarring changes in mood, style and world-building.

So unless you have a two-or-three film story alredy mapped out, when somebody asks for a sequel, in 85% of cases, the answer should be 'No'!
