In this respect, the BBC seems to be doing it properly. I say this because Conservatives accuse the BBC of left-wing bias, while Labour accuse it of being pro-right.

As to whether people trust media reports or their friends' opinions, they have always relied on the latter. They don't, after all, actually know the media people!
