In terms of the origin of the Universe, it makes more sense to imagine that before this Universe there was not 'nothing' but 'somethng else'. We do not, probably cannot, know what this 'something else' was, any more than any intelligence that existed in the something else could know of or imagine the current Universe.

Maybe there was never nothing, just a series of different somethings.
