Imagination is an evolutionary characteristic which allowed a physically-puny animal with limited senses and no natural weapons to become an apex predator and dominant species. Imagination is what allowed us to take that stout stick and that sharp rock and tie them together to make a spear or an axe. It's what allowed us to build a frame of branches and cover them with turf to keep the cold and wet off the babies.

Unfortunately it also sent us off on a million wild-goose chases after meaning, purpose, morality and rare Pokemon!

It may also kill us all off.

Over-developed characteristics are one of the things that bring about the extinction of some species.

We are a chimpanzee with too much imagination. A gorilla with just enough would have been better.
