I'm white. I would not call myself an ally, and nor would I describe myself as 'liberal' in the current sense of the word.

I'm English, and I hold to what are supposed to be English values: everyone has the right to freedom, fair treatment, fair dealing, safety, a decent life and impartial justice. That applies whatever your colour, gender or sexuality. I have applied those principles throughout my entire life and continue to do so.

I do not pretend to be colour-blind, or to ignore sexuality and gender. These things are part of a person, and they have the absolute right to own them, celebrate them and have others acknowledge them. There is no excuse for unfairness, prejudice or judgement on the basis of them, and I will challenge those who act in these ways. I've been doing that all my adult life.
