I’m lucky. As a Yorkshireman I’m expected by other English people to be blunt, laconic and not suffer fools gladly. Once word gets around -”Tony? He’s from Yorkshire. You won’t get any change out of him!” — the BS artists tend to avoid me! Oddly, there seems to be a general sense that, if pushed too far, I might actually thump somebody! Last time I did that was outside a local disco in the Seventies, and he’d been picking on a girl! Never so much as raised my voice since!
