I will admit to a nostalgic regard for Hawk the Slayer (1980) as one of the first Sword and Sorcery films. Despite its' general Spaghetti Western feel, I like the economy of the special effects, the Sorceress' Teleport Rings, the glowing Mindstone and making the already huge Bernard Bresslaw look like a Giant with only camera angles. Also Jack Palance is always good value.

But there is also The Flight of Dragons, Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jnr's charming 1982 animated fantasy. Used to have this on VHS, but I can't seem to find it on DVD. Shame, I'd like my granddaughters to see it.
