I was raised as a Presbyterian and was taught that the Roman Catholic Church was corrupt and worldly, and had turned away from the strict Gospel of Christ. The Anglican (Episcopalian) Church was almost as bad, that Lutheranism was too easy-going, and that Methodist, Baptist and Congegationalist churches were also soft on doctrine. The word most often used was 'laxity' or 'laxness'.

It need hardly be said that my bullshit detector went off around the age of 13, and I've not been to Church since! But I've studed much - enough to understand that the Roman Catholic Church is, to all intents and purposes, pagan. A polytheistic cult that places correct observation of rituals above personal faith and conduct, places the Mother as equal to the Father, performs rituals based on blood sacrifice, celebrates sexuality and requires the placation of lesser spirits and household gods.

That's more than lax, it isn't even Christian!
