I think the best of them all is One Foot in the Grave, which features the misadventures of elderly, curmudgeonly Victor Meldrew (Richard Wilson) and his put-upon wife Margaret (Annette Crosbie).
To be fair, Victor reminds me of myself. He is constantly at odds with the world, a grouch who takes no crap from anyone. As a result, he finds himself in endless uncomfortable situations.
There is a touch of surrealism upon occasion - the baby who can only be soothed by seeing a garden gnome turns out to have a white-bearded, apple-cheeked father who wears a red cap. Also, some of the main themes can be a little dark. On the other hand, there are some immortal lines. Victor, lying on a bed having accidentally super-glued a glass of beer to his forehead, complains "Am I supposed to just lie here like a bedridden Dalek?"
