I suggest you actually read your Constitution! The US was founded on the determination to ensure that the rich capitalists who staged the Revolution would be able to get ever richer without Government interference. In the 18th Century there was no concept of a person having rights and liberties until and unless they had enough land and/or money to 'deserve' them.

My point being that you can't argue from the 'underpinnings of American liberty' if you don't understand what they actually are!
