I read the story of 'Mrs Ching' over 40 years ago now, in a children's book about pirates. It seems she was once able to outmanoeuvre a Royal Navy fleet. Although, being a sensible woman, she avoided direct battle with them, being content to slip round them under cover of a storm.

The only 'pirate' fleet comparable was that of the Barbary Corsairs, epecially those of the Barbarossa brothers, Oruc and Hayreddin,
