I own a smartphone. It's a handy little gadget Icna use to send messages to people, to talk to them abut important things. I can use it to do my banking, to pay for things, to guide me to places I've not been before, to check the weather, make quick notes and reminders and do a quck Sudoku while waitg in the car for my daughter or granddaughters.

I don't take photos or make vidoes, except on famiy occasions. not do I watch videos or look at phtotgraphs made by oher people. It is inneceent of social media.

Wheih leads me to beleive that the problem lies less with the tech than the people. Most of them, be it noted, have no brains to rot.
