I must admit I'm only going on what I've read of Sanders' policies and how they compare to those of UK parties.

Brtish racism is, for want of a better word, lazy racism. Which is to say that it's based on a series of lazy assumptions rather than active hatred most of the time. English people don't go into Polish-owned shops because they assume they won't be welcome, for instance, but every medium to large English-owned supermarket has at least one aisle of Polish/Romanian products. English people wonly buy their apples and Brussells sprouts from an Indian greengrocer, because they think they won't be served, but aren't bothered about supermarkets stocking yams, sweet potatoes, okra and so forth.

Don't let Brexit fool you! Socialsits like myself disliked the EU as much, if not more, than the right-wingers did!

We had our Trump moment with Thatcher, and her own party kicked her out when she got too uppity! They've done the same with Boris. We're a bloody-minded lot who will only be pushed so far, for one thing. For another, the old school aristocracy and their longtime allies, the Civil Service, are always there to quietly deal with obstreperous politicians.
