I gather she's already been attacked in the prison. Unless steps are taken, she will be in constant danger and may well be murdered herself.
What she did was and is unforgivable, and the very notion that she should be allowed to 'redeem' or 'improve' herself leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
She became a nurse for the same reason many people enter the medical professions. She wanted to be looked up to, admired, relied on, respected. People treat doctors like demigods and nurses like saints, that's a Hell of a rush!
As to miscarriages of justice, in the vast majority of cases, the criminal is caught red-handed anyway, or the evidence is overwheming. This only became an issue after the farcical Christie/Evans case.
In 1949, Timothy Evans, a drunkard of low intelligence, known for being violent toward his wife Beryl, strangled both her and their daughter Geraldine and concealed the bodies in the wash-house of the house in which they rented a flat. The crime was discovered after Evans confessed to police at Merthyr Tydfil, where he had fled after the killings. The searches were made, evidence collected, Evans was tried, convicted and duly hanged. A typically sordid, brutal murder of the kind that happens all the time.
Some three years later, John Christie, who had occupied the other flat in the property where Evans had lived, was found to be a serial killer resonsible for the deaths of six women over a ten-year period, including his wife. He was tried, found guilty and hanged.
Then the band played. An assorted gang of do-gooders (an early form of todays Wokeferatu or Common Duckspeaker). began to rail against Evans' conviction. Purely and only on the grounds that they didn't want to think that two murderers had lived in the same house at the same time and that surely the police should have found the other bodies when investigating Evans?
Anyway, after much to-do (including completely ignoring the evidence found in an exhumation of Beryl Evans), Evans was pardoned and much breast-beating followed.
Now Timothy Evans was a dim-witted, drunken thug. John Christie was a clever, cautious sexual sadist and psychopath.
Christie rendered his victims drowsy or unconscious by conning them into inhaling domestic gas (coal gas containing 15% carbon monoxide). He then raped them repeatedly before, or sometimes while, strangling them with a ligature. He was methodical, consistent and careful in concealment of the bodies.
Carbon monoxide poisoning imparts a distinctive, cherry-red colouration to tissue. This is distinct from, and cannot be mistaken for, the petechial haemorrhaging characteristic of death by asphyxiation.
The bodies of Geraldine and Beryl Evans showed no sign of carbon monoxide poisoning. Both died of manual strangulation and the bodies were poorly concealed. Neither was sexually assaulted. It is also to be noted thet Christies' motivations for murder were entirely sexual and while he may be defined as a necrophile, there is no evidence of paedophilia. There is , however, evidence that he agreed with his counsel to confess to Beryls' murder in order to facilitate his unsuccessful insanity defence. He is reported to have said "The more, the merrier."
Nobody is saying Christie was a nice man, but to make a victim out of a wife-beater on zero evidence except the whining of the woke is farcical.
The case was one of the major impulses behind the abolition of the death penalty, thus assuring long, comfortable work-free lives for the likes of Ian Brady, Myra Hindley, Peter Sutcliffe and Rose West. Now, of course, a cold-blooded murderer of babies will join this privileged group.
Your optimism about human beings is admirable, but misplaced. Just as we grant euthanasia to loved animals who are old and in pain, with zero quality of life, but deny it to equally-loved humans in the same state, so we are prepared to destroy a dangerous animal, but insist on keeping dangerous humans alive.
