I can't seem to get a handle on this 'offended' thing! Some people write or say stupid things, others say or write things that are intentionally rude or upsetting to certain (very specific) other people. Quite rightly, they get jumped on, whereupon thay can apologise, explain, or do a JKR and dig themselves even deeper into the hole!

But if someone writes a piece which, in general terms, hints at the notion that all black people are not saints, that women might possibly have flaws, that LGBTQ+ people may sometimes overdo things, or even (the ultimate heresy) that a white, straight man may occasionally get something right, then the fertiliser makes contact with the air-conditioning! People are lining up to be offended! Most of the time, it's not even about them!

Pisses me off. There are more important, and above all practical, things that these folk could be doing to help others. Registering offence at every chance is not one of them and it achieves nothing.
