Huh? The Madame Web I knew of was an elderly, blind and disabled psychic plugged into a computer system who occasionally telephoned assorted superheroes (mainly Spider-Man) with cryptic hints as to upcoming disasters.
Not a character needing a film of their own!
Stupid gits wrote themselves into a corner with the Avengers. Fox never got a proper handle on the Fantastic Four (it might have helped if they'd stuck to the orginal origin). They also mucked up the X-Men six ways from Sunday for the same reason and because they were determined to centre the franchise on Wolverine when the X-Men comics were always ensemble pieces, with the main arc centred on Charles Xavier, Scott Summers and Jean Grey.
Disney didn't get their hands on Fox until the MCU was fairly launched, which didn't help as it left them without numerous key players. Then they emptied the magazine into their foot by restricting Daredevil (another long-lived mainstream Marvel character) and the Heroes for Hire to TV series. Thus leaving them scrabbling around for minor characters to put into films, such as Venom, Morbius and the Eternals. I won't go into the mess Wokedom made of Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and the rest, or the way they turned Namor the Sub-Mariner into Tinkerbell on steroids!
IMNSHO, they shoud take a 3-5 year break to get themselves straight, then relaunch the whole damned thing with a new set of actors and a back-to-basics storyline.
The original Avengers were Thor, Iron Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, who all met up trying to stop the Hulk, but it was a smart Hulk who joined them for a bit, then went savage again and left. Ant-Man (Henry Pym) became Giant-Man and Captain America and Hawkeye joined. Nick Fury had nothing to do with it and it was Namor whoi found theblock of ice Cap was frozen in
Dr Doom was not involved in the origin of the Fantastic Four. Reed Richards took his girlfriend, her brother and his best mate on a trip to test his new spacecraft and they got caught in a belt of cosmic rays - end of. Viktor von Doom was an academic and personal rival of Reed from college, but the FFs main enemies back then were the shapeshifting Skrulls.
The orginal X-Men, students of Charles Xavier, were teenagers - Scott Summers (Cyclops), Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), Warren Worthington III (Angel), Hank McCoy (Beast) and Bobby Drake (Iceman). Their enemies were Magneto and Juggernaut.
Dr Strange operates solo but sometimes joins up with Nmor, the Hulk and the Silver Surfer in an ad hoc team called the Defenders.
Shang-Chi was based in England and was the son of Fu Manchu - if they didn't own Fu Manchu they shouldn't have used the character.
While we're about it, can we have a 10-year moratorium on zombie films and slasher movies? Also can we get back to Vampires and Werewolves as monsters, not tragic heroes?
Here endeth the lesson.
