How you can be helping to destroy a language which, as an American, you don't even speak or write is beyond me!

The people actually destroying the language are those who say 'stadiums' instead of 'stadia', who say 'two times' instead of 'twice'. The same ones who deleted the second person singular from the language. The ones who allow news, documentary and other non-fiction programming to be presented by people with strong regional accents instead of insisting upon Received Pronunciation ('BBC English').

I've corresponded and spoken with enouhg Americans to realise that American and English are two distinct languages. Not only that, but English people can understand Americans while the average American finds 'English' English a real head-scratcher!
