How, exactly, ignorant foolish people can en mass deliver wise and feasible outcomes is always left blithely unmentioned lest its inherent impossibility be revealed. You forgot to say ‘Hail HYDRA!’.

The ultimate purpose of the EU, in its final form as a single European state, is precisely that of kicking American influence out of Europe. Few if any Americans realise the utter contempt in which they and their country are held by most Europeans. Another Trump administration will only make that happen sooner.

As to Brexit (which I assume is the path of self-destruction you’re talking about), it’s about having had enough! The French dominate post-War Europe via the Common Market due to a divided Germany and their determined exclusion of the UK. Then West Germany accomplishes a miracle and becomes as prosperous and influential as France. The French, as always when faced with a German threat, shit themselves and rope in the British to help out. So the Common Market is just a free-trade zone, so no problem, right? Only then the political dimension starts growing. Europe starts interfering with our rules and regulations, weights and measures. Suddenly the Common Market is first the EEC, then the European Union, and successive British governments sign us up for all this without the courtesy of asking us first. Then Germany gets re-unified, and promptly starts scooping half of Eastern Europe into the EU — underdeveloped, bankrupt countries who quickly become German client states. At which point, we Brits think ‘Here we bloody go again’, and start campaigning to get out before the balloon goes up. Because we don’t want to get pulled into another Franco-German conflict (political, economic, financial or military) about who’s the boss of Europe. Been there, done that (twice!) and it gained us fuck-all. So, leave Europe to its own devices, stop pretending to be a global power, and sort things out at home, because they’re a mess, and if you think the Europeans are going to help us, remember your history!

Covid-19? 190 000+ wholly preventable and unnecessary deaths, caused by the American governments’ abject failure to take decisive national action. That, sir, is hard data and if that number does not shock you, then you are a sociopath. The UK government was late in imposing measures, and too early in lifting them (whose idea was it to open pubs before schools?), something we are paying for with rising infection rates. American infection rates never dropped, no effective action has been taken at any level, and people are dying. Not only that, but the official death-toll in the US is probably an underestimate. What about the people who have died diagnosed because they are either undocumented, or simply could not afford to go to a doctor? How many of those are there?

In a final thought, given your animadversions on the topic of democracy, I assume you would not be averse to another Trump term and the subsequent fascist coup?

Hail HYDRA!
