Hmph, every time I found something I liked doing or was good at, my boss decided that I needed 'stretch and challenge' and 'to get out of my comfort zone'. Then gave me something to do I hated or was bad at. This they called 'development'.

At my last review, my Team Leader started on this spiel. I said to her "I'm 62, semi-retired and suffer from depression. All I want to do is jog on for four more years, then retire fully. I don't want to be stretched or challenged, and I'm past the point were either I or the organisation could benefit from 'futher development', OK?"

She said I had the wrong attitude. I told her she was an idiot and quit. I haven't worked since, and even the DWP, know better than to push me into looking for work because nobody is going to employ me now.

All I wanted was to have my identity (old codger) to be recognised and to be treated as an individual. But all she could see was the Process.

If you're an employees, you're a drone. End of.
