Here in the UK, it's an odd situation. On the one hand, there are communities here that are very homophobic - Islamic and hard-line Christian, mainly. But on the whole, most British people are like "whatever" about the whole thing. Almost everyone has a friend, neighbour of family member who is gay and it's just how they are. Same-sex marriage is legal, TV shows such as Eat Well For Less and Location, Location, Location (where a couple or family are helped to find a new home), or DIY-SOS often feature same-sex couples and gay people feature in soaps, dramas, sitcoms and so forth regularly, Many polticians, presenters, actors and other public figures are openly gay as well. It's all just so ordinary. A lot of us just don't understand why Americans are still making such a big fuss about it all!
