Hate to say it, but the most common reaction over here was a hope that maybe you'd stop being so damn cocky!
You'd crack on about how bad Pearl Harbour was. You got ONE air-raid on a military target - we got 30 000, mostly on civilian targets.
Between 1973 and 1997 the Provisional IRA detonated hundreds of bombs on 'soft targets' in England. killlingmen, women and children. This campaign was almost entirely financed by Americans via the Noraid organisation - which no US government ever even tried to stop.
Another common reaction over here? "Serve them right! About time they had a taste of their own mediicine!"
Call me harsh, but Americans usually have no idea of how people in other countries think of them!
