Democracy, like socialism, is one of those theories that has never been fully put into practice anywhere. Fascism has, however, and we've seen the results. Caveat emptor.

To put it another way - a true democracy can only ever work if everyone in the country has an IQ of at least 130 and is tertiary educated. Most folk just aren't smart enough to vote responsibly or even understand the issues they're voting on!

I'm not upper class myself. I'm not well-off or any more privileged than the man on the Clapham omnibus. All government systems favour the privileged few, always have and always will while the first requirement for obtaining power and influence is to want it. The best rulers are almost always those who were thrust into the role unwillingly.
