Come to think of it, I never had a 'real life' hero. My heroes were always fictional, with Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who being the most influential on me. To this day I try to 'observe', rather than merely 'see'.

But our strange new world can still throw up genuine heroes. One need look no further than the late Captain Sir Thomas Moore - the much-beloved centenarian 'Captain Tom', who inspired so many of us during lockdown.
