CODA is not the kind of thing I'd watch. My experience as a teacher and as a trade Union representative involved me in a number of cases to do with disabilities, as well as race, gender, sexuality, religion and family issues. As a result, films and TV around that kind of scenario cut a tad too close to the bone for entertainment.
Dune was an excellent piece, visually stunning and well-realised. The only objection I have is the laser-like focus on Paul and Jessica. While there may be space in sequels to further develop key characters such as Gurney Halleck, Thufir Hawat, and Baron Harkonnen, I regret the lack of attention given to Duke Leto, Duncan Idaho and Dr Yueh. Also, what happened to Piter de Vries? That said, I loved the ornithopters and the sandworms! I was also impressed by the duel sequence towards the end. Pauls' clear remorse at having to kill Jamis and the tacit acknowledgment of his feelings by the other Fremen. It was also fun to see Pauls' small encounters with the mouselike creature from which he will take his Fremen name!
The problem with all three of the remakes I mentioned as poor was that whoever was doing them totally misunderstood what they were about. The Avengers and The Man From UNCLE are supposed to be slightly camp and more than a little spoofy, in the vein of Kingsman: The Secret Service. Both remakes lacked any real humour.
As to The Saint, Val Kilmers' moody, melancholic thief bore no resemblance whatsoever to the swashbuckling 'Robin Hood of Modern Crime ' created by Leslie Charteris and so ably brought to life by Roger Moore
