Call me an egotist if you like (I've been called a lot worse) but I write to please myself, not others. If other folk want to read my meanderings, grumbles and expositions, they're welcome to do so. It's also fun to get comments and claps, but it won't kill me not to. Most people ignored my article on Richard III for instance, but I'm still pleased with it!

I don't promote myself because I don't need to. But somebody hoping to get an income or even make a living by writing does need to and should. Squeaky wheels.
