As White people in the UK, watching the occurrence on the TV, both my wife and I said the same thing: "If those people were Black, they'd all be dead by now!"

America, don't think the world isn't watching! For almost your entire history, you have been regarded with hatred by some and amused contempt by the rest. A bullying, posturing man-child of a nation, a threat to those smaller than yourself, and a joke to the grownups.

But it's not a joke any more. With each piece of stupidity of naked greed, of gun-toting machismo, the fear of you fades and the once amused contempt becomes absolute. You can't even manage your own democracy, let alone impose one on people to whose culture the very concept is alien.

Fair warning, unless Biden and Harris make a serious attempt to drag America into the 21st Century as a European or British-style Social Democracy, by 2024 nobody will care who you elect, because nobody will be having anything to do with you.
