Another 'ism'. I begin to loathe 'isms'. Isms are what keep us apart. To have an ism is to set boundaries as to who you admit and whose interests you promote. It leads to splitting off parts of an already oppressed group to create an even more oppressed part of it.

Isms are the weapon and fuel and life-blood of divide et impera.

If the aim and need of all people is to be treated decently and fairly, to each have the same rights and opportunities to make of our lives what we will, then we must resist division. Colour, gender, sexuality, are irrelevant to the larger picture. We all want the same: recognition of our human status; guaranteed rights; earned privileges; equality of esteem and opportunity; our basic needs met, whatever they may be. Probably a lot more that I can't be arsed to list.

But if it's to be done, we have to do it together, not in special interest groups. I've spent my life fighting and working for people: not women, not people of colour, not LGBTQ people. Just people. I don't give a shit about your melanin content, what bits you do or don't have or who you choose to share them with (as long as its consensual and doesn't involve kids). If you're being treated badly, bullied, downtrodden or just outright ignored, I'm there. Ready to argue your case, escalate as high as I need to, persuade, threaten and if necessary, crack some heads!

Sorry, I get cross sometimes.
