An interesting take.

Let me be clear, I am what many people would call a Socialist, and I have no problem being called that. I supported the Labour Party and Trade Union movement for many years. But my purpose in doing so was the rectification of economic inequality and the ending of exploitation.

The Woke culture, here in the UK, has its roots in Tony Blairs' New Labour. A Labour Party designed to capture the votes of tertiary-educated middle-class voters by concentrating on issues such as equality and diversity, LGBTQ+ rights and so forth. But of course the whole thing was funded by wealthy people who wanted the left to concentrate on social, rather than economic, inequalities. In this they have succeeded, to the point where Jeremy Corbyns' valiant attempt to restore proper Labour ideology was smothered by the largely Blairite PLP, and Wokeism was used to undermine asnd eventually dispose of him.

Until and unless we consign Woke to the sidelines and re-establish the left as a force for primarily economic change, nobody will get the equality they want or need.
