Again, much of what you speak of is the result of overdeveloped intellect and imagination. We evolved too far in this direction and this is likely to bring about our extinction.

Yes, we are composed of matter and energy, as are all phenomena. Life is an anomaly in the Universe because it reverses entropy - moving from simpler to more complex forms, rather than the other way around. But the resulting increase in entropy caused by living beings corrects the balance. Intelligence is not an anomaly - many animals possess it in various degrees. Imagination, however, is anomalous, and has led us to set ourselves against Nature, partly to live more physically comfortable lives, but also in the drive to find meaning and purpose in things which have neither. The Universe is just there. We are just here. We are born, we reproduce, we die -the Universe doesn't care, only a handful of other people do. No meaning, no purpose. One can be a Daoist, and go with the flow. One can be a Stoic, and find happiness in letting go of desire. Or one can be an Epicurean, and take whatever pleasure one can find in what one has. It's all one in the end.
