Absolutely not. Fleming finally decided to stick with the single character, Bond. But when Norman Felton, co-creator of The Man From UNCLE, approached Fleming to consult on the show, Fleming suggested the Solo name for the lead character. He also suggested the name April Dancer for another character - that eventually became the name of The Girl From UNCLE.
The show was originally supposed to be named Ian Flemings' Solo, but Saltzman and Broccoli, who were filming Goldfinger at the time, demanded that all traces of Fleming's involvement (including the name Napoleon Solo) in the show be excised. Fleming signed an affidavit saying that there had been no infringement on the Bond franchise and eventually Felton was allowed ot use the name but nothing else. Solo was supposed to be the mani character, but David McCallums' Illya Kuryakin gainec a massive following among teenage girls that drew a whole new audience for the show, so his character was upgraded. Robert Vaughn, never a very nice man, resented McCallum for it.
