A (female) friend of mine once 'explained' it to me in this way:-
"Men are there to provide sperm, do heavy and/or dangerous work, protect the women and children from physical danger and hopefully get killed doing those things. There's no call for emotional subtlety, though mechanical and strategic intelligence are useful. Men are expendable, it's the man who lives to a ripe old age that's been doing it wrong!
The work of building communities, resolving disputes, making sure everyone has what they need, and so forth, was originally, and still should be, the role of women. That's why women are more emotionally intelligent, better communicators, and why they live longer.
Unfortunately, we no longer live in a natural way, so now men have assumed leadership postions they should not hold, are outliving their usefulness and are trying so hard to find a role for themselves that they've spent thousands of years messing everything up."
I suggested she should take a bit more water with it! We never got to the second date.
